The Future of the Church

Hello Church Leader,

Here at Leadership Network we believe that the future of the Church is secure because Christ has promised that not even the gates of hell will prevail against her (Matt 16:18). But, we also acknowledge that the religious landscape of the American church is evolving. Consider the most recent statistics from the Pew Research Center:

  • Currently, 43% of U.S. adults identify with Protestantism, down from 51% in 2009
  • One-in-five adults (20%) are Catholic, down from 23% in 2009
  • 17% of Americans now describe their religion as "nothing in particular," up from 12% in 2009
  • Only about one-in-three Millennials say they attend religious services at least once or twice a month

These cultural shifts in our population cannot be ignored. Furthermore, the church must be prepared to answer questions like these:

  • How will Christians address topics like gender identity and sexual ethics?
  • How can technology help your church’s discipleship strategy?
  • What kinds of church plants or church expressions will emerge in the years to come?
  • How can the church continue to engage the next generation of young men and women?

Church Leader, if you recently attended The NINES online event, you know the importance of addressing these topics biblically and faithfully. We also want to equip you to continue the conversation so we’ve put together a unique one day event with our friend Carey Nieuwhof. This event is designed for high-capacity leaders (and their executive teams) who are committed to shaping the future of the church. Space is limited! We look forward to seeing you there!
